At The King’s Church we firmly believe that giving is a big part of what it is to follow Jesus.
We believe that tithes and offerings are an integral part of our worship of God. Therefore, we make a clear distinction between charitable giving and tithing.
Charitable giving is giving to a cause (and there is nothing wrong with that!) and tithing is giving to God.
Tithing isn’t something where we give to the ‘good cause of the church’, but an act of submissive worship to God, through which the kingdom of God is furthered through the work of the local church.
We don’t compel people to give to the church (2Cor9:7), we don’t seek to extract charitable giving from people. What we do desire and encourage is that people worship God with everything, and that through tithing we would all learn (Deut14:23b) what it is to say Jesus is Lord!
We these things in mind we have set ourselves some worship goals as a church.
The King’s Church Financial Worship Goals.
1. To be able to increase the pastor’s salary to an appropriate level and maintain increases in the salary in line with inflation.
This is a matter of justice and loving God. (Lk11:42)
2. To be able collect, in a ‘social helps fund’, a store of money that can be used to help those in need within our church family and those in need who we as a church come into contact with.
This is a matter of justice and loving God.
3. To increase the budget of the Sunday School and children’s work. We desire to be truly investing into the future of our children.
4. To be able to support an additional part time pastor by September 2011.
